• His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge

It’s official. At 8lbs 6oz Prince George is the heaviest baby to be born in the House of Windsor in 100 years. His father, William, was 7lbs 2oz and his Grandfather, the Prince of Wales, was 7lbs 6oz at birth.

It’s a big deal in Britain when an heir to the throne is born. The British delight in their royal family. If he lives long enough, Prince George will be King George VII. But that may be awhile. His Great Grandmother has been hogging the throne for 60 years.

No one quite knows the wealth of the royal family. At one time they were one of the wealthiest families in the world. But private wealth has surpassed that of the royal family. Today Forbes places the Queen’s wealth at $500 million, which is impressive, but not quite enough to be in the top 10.

Then again, there’s the Crown Estate. Valued at over $8 billion it was once owned by the House of Windsor. It includes Buckingham Palace, the residence of the Queen valued at over $1 billion. In the 1700s King George III made a deal with Britain to give up the estate so that he wouldn’t have to pay taxes. But the royal family still lives there.

So little Prince George is a millionaire even before his first royal diaper change. He will never have to worry about money. In exchange he’ll have Paparazzi follow his every move.

But even though the Royal Family of Britain has power and money, there is another Royal Family with even greater wealth. The Head of this family sits on a throne encircled with cherubim and seraphim. He is more powerful than any King of Windsor ever was. And He loves His creation.

Enough to send His only Son to bring us into His Royal Family.

    Blessings,
    Pastor David
