Have you ever had someone knock on your door to share their faith? What happened? How did you feel?
Do you think door knocking is a great way of evangelizing today? Why or why not? What other methods of evangelizing might have success?
Read Matthew 28:18-20, the Great Commission. Jesus uses the word, “therefore”. Why? What two thoughts are being linked?
In the book of Acts, new followers of Jesus Christ are called “Believers”. It isn’t until later, in Acts 6 that they are given the title, “Disciples”. Is there a difference? What is the difference? What does a Disciple of Jesus look like? What does that mean for the Great Commission?
Millennials are those born between 1984 and 2002. In the sermon, Pastor Hook shared research from a book entitled, “Making Space for Millennials”. Research shows that that they are much more modular, i.e., they don’t live in a normal 8 to 5 world. Do you agree with that? How would you design a church around this modularity and for Millennials in general? Please email your answers back to Pastor Hook!
Here is a listing of the Generations that are in our church today.
- 1927-1945 - Silent Generation or Traditionalists
- 1946-1964 - Baby Boomers
- 1965-1983 - Gen X or the Busters
- 1984- 2002 - Gen Y or the Millennials
- 2003- Current Gen Z or the Digital Generation
On a scale of 1 to 10, how different are these generations? 1=not very different at all and 10=totally different.
The Law is that which convicts us of our sin, guides us so that we don’t get into trouble, and shows us a right way to please God. The Gospel is the Good News that Jesus saves us from the Law. Is the Law different for these generations? Is the Gospel?
Tim Keller talks about these Missional Steps:
- Be a person of Integrity
- Let people around you know you are a Christian (in a natural, unforced way)
- Ask friends about their faith – and just listen!
- Listen to your friends problems – maybe offer to pray for them
- Share your problems with others – testify to how your faith helps you
- Give them a book to read
- Share your story
- Answer objections and questions
- Invite them to a church event
- Offer to read the Bible with them
- Take them to an explore course
