A brief prayer is offered that you can add to your daily prayers. The scripture is from our Sunday Service Bulletin. Today’s sermon is about a new ministry that our church is adopting called “Lifetree Café”. For more information browse:www.lifetreecafe.com
1 Peter 2:10 (English Standard Version)
Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Devotion: “Have you tried rebooting?”
If a personal computer is part of your life and you have groveled at the feet of the IT trolls to save your masterpiece or your homework then you likely have heard this refrain: “Have you tried rebooting?” Ever thought about a life reboot? I am not exactly sure what that is but I think we’ll know it when we see it:
1- Our “operating system” is not working like it should, 2- we can’t seem to connect properly with the other life forms around us, 3- our schedule times out and we don’t know what to do next, and 4- some key thing seems to be missing from our operating system. Perhaps a life reboot will get our own system working a lot better and we can have time to help and witness to other people in the community who need to hear the good news. Did you know these:
•The United States makes up the third largest mission field in the world
•Only 18 percent of the U.S. population goes to church in a given week
•The average church size is 75 in worship
•90 percent of churches are declining or on a plateau in worship attendance
•50 congregations in the United States close every week
•Of those who don’t go to church regularly: 91% say they believe in God, 88% say faith is important, and 64% are open to pursuing their faith development.
Why don’t we take the time to think about God’s directive to us to make more disciples? There are others in our community who need to work on getting a closer personal relationship with God. If we do this, we’ll suddenly find that witnessing to others is rewarding enough to bring ourselves closer and closer to God. A reboot indeed!!!
Pray: Lord, help us reboot and connect! Amen
Blessings,
Joe
