• Devotion for 7 August

A brief prayer is offered that you can add to your daily prayers this week. The scripture is from our Sunday Service Bulletin for today.  We are continuing a summer sermon series on Psalms.
OT READING: Psalm 95: 1-7 (English Standard Version)
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2             Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
3             For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
4             In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.
5             The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
6             Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
7             For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
    Devotion: Created to Worship
This Psalm assures people that God is King over all and talks about how we should worship Him.  Some of you may even recognize the lyrics of a current worship song embedded in this text. Our sermon theme was that we were created in His image and what a great worship experience we can have if we put no other gods before Him. I [and others have told me this] have noticed in my life that I am enjoying my worship experience more and more as I try to put Him first more and more. As a child, my parents were very insistent on me going to church with them and I don’t remember having as much joy worshipping as I do now.  I do not think it is an age thing, I think it is because I am walking closer to God now. How about trying a little harder to put God first in our lives this week? We can do it!

We pray: Lord you know me well, I want to put you first. Amen
