• Twelve Days of Christmas

    Christmas, 2016

    Dear Friends,

    Merry Christmas!

The twelve days of Christmas begin with the birth of Jesus and extends through Epiphany when the Magi arrive. May the light of Jesus fill you with peace, hope, love and joy this season.

Christ Lutheran Vail Church is bursting at the seams.  Our Wednesday night youth, Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), and early childhood programs cannot expand.  We’ve simply run out of space. The new facility will alleviate this problem, but the initial cost estimates are high.  It is a difficult dilemma. On one hand, space is needed almost immediately.  On the other hand, we need to be good stewards of the funds that God will provide.  I have confidence the building committee will figure this out, but it will take time and effort.

A solution moving forward was shared at the December voter’s meeting.  Two modular buildings can be constructed on the west side of the existing playground. See Site Plan.  One modular can be constructed immediately and the second modular can be constructed once the new site plan has been approved by Pima County.

This solution has two great benefits.  First, at least one and perhaps both buildings could be constructed by the next school year resolving our immediate space need. Secondly, the building committee can reduce the size and cost of the next phase because of the added modular space.

And now there is even more exciting news.  A donor has arrived to help. The donor has seen the great work we do and would like to see our ministries expand.   The donor has made the following offer:  For every dollar raised between now and January 8th 2017, the donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $30,000. And here is even more exciting news:  $60,000 is enough to construct the first modular building.

Here’s where you can help.  First, please pray a prayer of thanksgiving that God continues to do amazing thing in our congregation.  Second, continue to pray that God grant wisdom to our leadership.  And finally, prayerfully consider if God is calling you to help.

You could make a one-time donation or you could spread out your donation over the next six months.  The only thing that is needed would be the pledge by January 8th.

    Pledge here.

I am so grateful to God for everyone who does so much in our congregation.  I am grateful that He finds ways for us to be good stewards in all things.   During this 12 days of Christmas, I pray that God continues to shower you with His heavenly blessings.
